Andrew started his third round of chemotherapy starting last week. He is taking a pill daily for 21 days and then a week off and then starting the same cycle once again. He will be doing this for a few more months.
The chemotherapy is called topotecan. Andrew has done rather well so far with this therapy. He is able to attend school, play with his friends and do other fun activities It is vital that Andrew has normal activities in his life. His coritsol levels (stress level) needs to remain low.
Andrew has been working on making healthier choices as well at the dinner table; he’s kinda picky with his food choices at times. He needs to eat a lot of green veggies. His counts (red blood, white blood, platelets) have been normal or just a bit below normal while on the topotecan.
Andrew had an MRI a couple of weeks ago and it was an all clear reading! Andrew is hopeful he can play freshmen baseball this spring. We’re told he still has a cannon for an arm!
Please join us in wishing Andrew the best as he continues treatment.
