Anyone who has ever been to grandma’s house for the holidays knows that you can’t have a celebration without food; a LOT of food. To celebrate the life and beautiful soul of Paxton Bowe Andrews we are stopping at nothing short of a taste bud festival dished up by some of the kindest and favoritest (if we can make up Scrabble words) people in the business.
Soul.
We will get to the food part (promise) but first a word about our friends at Maxie’s and Blue’s Egg. When we brought this event to their attention, there was not a breath of hesitation to help and make a difference. Dan, Joe, Sara and the rest of the team were simply “in,” ready to participate, donate and share their brilliant food. Good people… and we are proud to know them and include them in Paxton’s Pablove Fest!
Food.
Maxie’s southern inspiration includes the “Low Country” cooking of the Carolinas, Creole and Cajun cooking of Louisiana, traditional slow-smoked southern barbeque, and southern comfort cooking of all kinds and Blue’s menu blends the simplicity of old world ingredients, the timeless vision of immigrant cooking and the originality and sustainability of fresh concepts. Since their appearance in Wauwatosa in 2007 and 2010 (respectively) they have quickly become culinary treasures, serving mouthwatering plates of goodness to bustling dining rooms every day. On 9/22, Paxton’s Pablove Fest will be an al fresco extension of their restaurants with the following menu:
(start your taste buds)
Eastern North Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich with Creamy Slaw
If you have not had one yet, where have you been living? This is a Maxie’s classic and for good reason. The south lives right here in between two buns, topped with crunchy, creamy slaw (wipes chin). In fairness maybe you don’t eat meat. Which brings me to…
Vegetarian Jambalaya
Hearty, perfectly spiced classic Jambalaya for the Creole in you; make sure you have a piece of cornbread with it.
Chicken and Andouille Sausage Jambalaya
See above and add the carnivore factor.
Blue’s Pulled Ham with Cheese Sandwich
Our team personally requested this. How do we describe?
OH. MY. GOD!
Bourbon Chocolate Cookies
We are not even going to describe…Just re-read the name…
Don’t get just one. You’re welcome.
For the kids and big kids that want to go sconnie-traditional-festival, they have you covered:
Hamburgers with Chips and Pickles
Hot Dog with Chips and Pickles
Oh…oh…OH AND?!
White Cheddar Mac and Cheese
This last item is new to their menu and if you thought that Mac and Cheese has been done over and over… nope! Not here. It SELLS OUT in their restaurant. We have heard the heartbreaking cries of “86 the Mac and Cheese” to the bartender [subsequent tears]. This is not a dream: Mac and Cheese, then more cheese ladled over and bread crumbs, (we think) some sort of incantation and voodoo… serve. ZOMG!
Maxie’s/Blue’s Egg will also have some signature drinks with their Red Sangria and White Wine Mojitos along with Assorted Sodas, Bottled Water and a Tropical Storm.
Not one single item listed above is over $5 so come hungry. Your purchases benefit The Pablove Foundation and therefore the fight against childhood cancer. THAT is some powerful food right there!
Spend your Saturday (9/22) with us. Hear some amazing music, eat some incredible food and talk to some surprise guests. Experience an event that will have you singing, smiling and lifting your soul.
