We first introduced you to Kathryn the Great in early 2014, when she became a cherished PAX warrior. Kathryn has courageously looked cancer square in the eye as she went round for round with her second diagnosis. In fact, Kathryn has been going toe to toe with childhood cancer for more than 6 years; nearly half of her life. This girl is full of fight. She has no intentions of backing down.
PAX has grown extremely attached to this brave warrior girl and her beautiful family. As they rode the unpredictable roller coaster of childhood cancer, PAX anguished with them during the most difficult of times, and celebrated with them when sweet victories were achieved.
This summer, Kathryn’s family invited PAX to join their family celebration. What were we celebrating? More than one year post bone marrow transplant, Kathryn’s marrow continues to be 100% donor cells. Meaning no trace of cancer in her bone marrow! This is a huge step forward in her complete recovery.
Kathryn started high school this fall. She did so with her head held high, her spirit flowing with hope, and her body filled with renewed strength. With only a few weeks of high school under her belt, Kathryn has already joined the marching band and started her first part time job! In her free time, she continues to enjoy spending time with her brood of girlfriends and her beloved family.
PAX remains indebted to our generous PaxLovers, who make it possible for us to provide support to all of our Warriors. We send a special ‘Thank You’ to our faithful friends at Incheck who recently helped us treat Kathryn and her family a night full of memories at a Brewers game. They enjoyed premium seats and a great game. In addition to enjoying much coveted time as a complete family unit – the highlight of the evening came when Kathryn’s little brother Ryan got a game ball!
Kathryn still has a long road ahead of her. But we remain confident that our brave girl will continue to be victorious in her fight.
Kathryn the Great – you will always be a PAX warrior!
PaxLoveAlways.
