Dear Paxton,
I’m sure you’re going to be hearing from a lot of us today. It has been one year since you first graced us with your presence. February 12, 2012 was the happiest day of your parents’ lives. I’m not making that up. They told me that it was – and always will be – the.happiest.day.ever.
And you know what they say, “Listen to your mother.” If your momma says it was the happiest day, you better believe it was.
(I’m just saying, Paxton, your momma knows what she’s talking about. She’s a smart lady.)
Now, normally, it’s the birthday boy who gets to make a wish.
I hope you’ll forgive me, but I’d like to swap with you. I’d like to make a wish for you.
We promised your parents that we would never let your time here on earth be in vain. We promised we would fight for you. We promised we would do everything we could to make you proud of us. So, my wish for you today is that you will look down upon us with a smile on your face and in your heart. I wish for you to be proud of what we’ve done and help guide us to share your peaceful strength, little warrior. But most of all, my wish for you is peace.
Before I go, I have something I’d like to show you. We are already hard at work planning your festival for this year. We’re gonna keep on fighting for you. Take a look at this video our friends at FlipEleven made for you. I hope it makes you proud.
Rest peacefully, little angel.
xoxo,
Amy
P.S. I still have the text message your daddy sent me the day you were born. Along with the most precious photo of you, it reads, “We are proud to present Paxton Bowe Andrews, 6lbs 13oz, 19 inches.” Happy birthday, Paxton.
