We continue to be graced by heartfelt, unexpected acts of kindness from PaxLovers both young and old. We appreciate any gesture of support given to show our brave Warriors they are not alone in their fight against childhood cancer. However, it’s always most touching when that support comes from another child. We proudly introduce our special friend, Braeden – as we name him September’s Honorary “PaxLover” Hero.
Last month, Braeden turn 11 years old. When his parents asked him how he’d like to celebrate his birthday, he told them he wanted to do something to help the Paxton Andrews Foundation. In lieu of opening birthday gifts from his family and friends, Braeden asked his guests to bring items to stock Paxton’s Treat Cart.
Braeden’s party goers did not disappoint. Braeden proudly delivered an entire van full of toys, games, socks, hats, books, crayons, coloring books and stuffed animals to PAX Headquarters. When Paxton’s Treat Cart rolls up to the HOT Unit and the MACC Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, it will be overflowing with goodies donated on Braeden’s behalf.
Braeden is no novice when it comes to helping kids with a cancer diagnosis. He spent more than a year growing out his hair so he could give his curly-q’s to Locks For Love, an organization that creates wigs for kids who’ve lost their hair to the side effects of cancer treatments. Before shaving his mangily mane, he asked for pledges to support St. Baldricks Foundation, the leading non-profit supporting childhood cancer research. PAX is humbled and honored to be included as one of the benefactors of Braeden and his heart of gold.
We PaxLove you, Braeden.
