“The World Needs Her”
The Paxton Andrews Foundation can hardly contain our joy in wishing our bold and beautiful warrior, Kathryn the Great, a very happy 14th birthday. Kathryn, we hope the PaxLove surrounding you is so strong that you can’t help but to feel it today.
Kathryn and her family have fought, even clawed, their way through the last year. Since her cancer returned one year ago, she and her family have seemingly endured one nightmare after another – including a bone marrow transplant, a compression fracture, and too many emergency room visits and ICU stays to count. However, we are excited to report that in recent weeks Kathryn has been passing medical tests with flying colors. Her mother, Tracy, indicates that Kathryn’s lungs are steadily improving, her kidneys are working well, and her bone marrow is still 100% new. In fact, Kathryn’s new-found stability has her scheduled to return to school next semester. Understandably, Kathryn’s spirits are the best they’ve in a long time.
Celebrating Kathryn’s birthday feels like throwing mud in the face of cancer. And the only thing we love more than our warriors, is throwing mud in the face of cancer! We are thrilled that Kathryn will enjoy another birthday cake and have one more candle to blow out today. As Kathryn’s mom so beautifully quipped,“…the world needs her”. Yes, Tracy, the world needs Kathryn. And tonight, she will be spending her birthday surrounded by her family; right where she belongs.
Happy, Happy Birthday, Kathryn.
We PaxLove you, baby girl.
xoxo,
PAX
